Dr. Cesar Amescua
Medical Director
- Dr. Amescua earned his medical degree in Mexico City at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. Following graduation, he completed a two-year internship, then specialized in Anesthesia at the Hospital General de Mexico.
- Dr. Cesar Amescua has dedicated over 20 years to advancing the field of regenerative medicine, making significant contributions to tissue engineering and stem cell therapy. His work has focused on developing innovative treatments to repair and regenerate damaged tissues, greatly impacting patient care and medical research.
Dr. Theodore Sand, PhD
Regenerative Research Consultant
Dr. Sand began his career in the field of regenerative medicine back in the early 2000’s when he created, optimized, validated and commercialized the fat tissue-derived stem cell therapy service still available through Vet-Stem, Inc. After leaving Vet-Stem in 2010, Dr. Sand worked at various companies including Celling Biosciences (Austin, TX), with a focus on developing cutting edge Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) and Bone Marrow Concentrate (BMC) devices for human use in orthopedic and spinal applications. He also was responsible for Celling’s clinical studies, including the first demonstration of the therapeutic benefit and safety of treating low back pain with an autologous BMC intradiscal injection. He worked at Greyledge Technologies (autologous PRP/BMC) before becoming a consultant to support clients in the areas of regulatory affairs, product development, intellectual property and clinical studies. Dr. Sand joined an Institutional Review Board in 2024.
Dr. Sand has helped develop various autologous and allogeneic therapies and related devices, has co-authored 25 publications, including five book chapters relating to the field of regenerative medicine and has 22 issued patents.

With a strong background in biomedical research, he evaluates emerging studies and trends in the field of regenerative medicine, helping us stay ahead of the curve in this rapidly evolving space. This includes reviewing clinical data, analyzing therapeutic outcomes, and supporting the continuous refinement of our protocols for safety, efficacy, and innovation.
His commitment to scientific integrity and patient-centered care helps guide our approach to developing and delivering cutting-edge regenerative therapies. Whether it’s identifying promising research or optimizing treatment strategies, Dr. Sand brings thoughtful analysis and a passion for regenerative health to every aspect of the role.
Dr. Sand received both his B.S. (Microbiology, 1975) and Ph.D. (Biochemistry, 1982) degrees from the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN) and was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Immunology at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation (La Jolla, CA) from 1982 through 1983. After his postdoc, he worked in research and development of human in vitro diagnostics for Ortho Diagnostics Systems (a division of J&J), Baxter Diagnostics and Quidel Corporation before moving into the field of translational cell-based therapies in regenerative medicine in 2003.
